Light progress

This year I am putting a lot of lights on the roof. Last year I had red/green/white/blue C9 lights and I am keeping those plus I am adding the icicle lights from the first year back. New to the roof will be strobe lights - same kind I use in the tree.

With all of these lights on the roof I needed some supporting structure up there to hold them all - plus I didn't want to mess up the shingles trying to use shingle tabs again... so... I built rails that outline the entire roof! They are made out of wood but I painted them black to be less noticeable. I've got them secured by wire to cinder blocks placed over pipes coming up from the house. It is a rock solid design and doesn't make the house look ugly during the day. I can clip on the shingle tabs to the rails then staple them down for good measure.

So I've got all of the rails up and have about 1/3 of the C9 lights up. Next up will be the strobes then icicles. I am hoping to get the roof done by the end of the week. Next weekend is my birthday so I don't know how much I will be able to get done. Judy seems like she is planning a lot of stuff to do. I think she may be trying to throw me off though just so I can't make a good guess at what she is really doing. Next week I am targeting the window lights and bushes. The next week will be the mega tree, arches, and flood lights. I am really hoping that I will have enough power for the icicle lights. I might have to buy a bigger cable that goes to my sub-panel which I am dreading. I only need 30 feet but when the cables get that big it's like $3 per foot.

Overall everything is looking good so far.

Dick Batchelor Run for the Children 5k

Tomorrow I am running in the Dick Batchelor Run. Judy is working at the event so I'll get to refuel with chocolate milk! The rest of the day I plan on working on the Christmas display. I need to build a rack that outlines the roof. I'm going to get strips of wood and staple the shingle clips to that instead of messing up the shingles. I'll have some sand bags over the edge of the roof and have cables hooked onto the rack being held up by the sand bags. I think it will work.

I must have the new iPod Nano!

ipod nano image

I got a spam email from Apple last night. Normally I delete them right away but for some reason I read it. It said that the new iPod nano does video, has an FM tuner built in, and a Nike+ iPod receiver built in. At first I thought it was too good to be true and that the email was a phishing attempt. I went to apple.com just to make sure. Turns out IT IS TRUE! I have a nano from a few models back so it is definitely time for an upgrade! I thought that all of these new features would have driven up the price but the top model is $179. Of course I will need a new arm band because the dimensions are different from my current nano but that's not a big deal. I can't wait to get ahold of the new nano!

Awesome labor day weekend

Had an awesome labor day weekend. Judy and I went to Siesta Key with some friends. We stayed at a condo next to the beach. We went to the beach every day but never stayed too long. It was hot and we played it safe so we didn't get burned. At night we went out to watch the sunset. There was a pool at our condo that was 90% shaded by the trees so we hung out there too. The condo itself was decent. All of the places we went to eat weren't that good. I was looking forward to going to the ice cream store but we didn't have time. The cool thing about this place was that they allowed dogs so we took Logan and Gian and Vanessa took their dog Tyson. On Saturday Gian and I were talking the dogs when an brand new orange camaro SS rolled by. It was awesome! There was also a Chevy dealership across from the grocery store that had a gray camaro SS that looked even better! We left Monday to come home. Beau came over to watch the Hurricanes beat the Seminoles. That was a good cap to the long weekend.

Fun weekend ahead

I am doing well on my running as you can tell. Friday I am going to do a 9 mile'r in the morning. I really need to start doing some sit-ups though.

Friday I am taking the day off of working. I have a few errands to do then Judy and I are heading to Siesta key. We're going to spend the weekend there with some friends. It should be a fun time. We're taking Logan too! Sunday is my cousins wedding. Monday we're coming back home. That is also our 6 month anniversary. To cap off the weekend UM is going to smash FSU Monday night. I can't wait!

MyRunning.info website launch

A few months ago I developed this website to keep track of my running information. Well not just me but anyone who wants to keep track of their running history... so I came up with this site.

http://myrunning.info

I just had the site laying around and needed to clean up a few things but I took care of those real quick tonight. I'm still adding new features to it but it's ready for some users to get in there and start using. I'm excited about it.

Hooked on Evony

A few weeks ago I read this twitter update from Jeff Atwood about Evony. He was complaining about how their ads had lots of boobies but the game had nothing to do with boobie ads. Well I checked out the game and it is really addicting. Its a flash game you just play in your browser and it's completely free. Now I've got my buddy Todd hooked on it too. I am at the point where things are taking a really long time to build so I'm starting to attack more. It's one of those games you can log in and do a few things and then log out and let it go for a while and then come back later. I like it a lot.

Right now it is raining. I need to run 4 miles later today so I hope it stops. At least it is not lightning much. A few weeks ago I went running and a storm came up really quick and started lightning all around me. It was very scary. Tomorrow I am running 7 miles. My weight is down to 205-210 lbs. By the time that the Houston Marathon comes around I am hoping to be under 200, in the 190-195 area.

Yesterday Judy cooked this awesome pulled pork. The thing is... I was home and let it sit in the slow cooker for too long so it got dried out. I hope she gives it another shot so I can redeem myself and so we can have some yummy food! I got rice crispe treat ingredients at publix last weekend so I might try and make those either tonight or this weekend.

Tomorrow Beau is moving up to UCF! It will be cool to hang out with my bro more.
