The electric rush

I don't know if I posted this yet but 2 days ago I got my 2nd light controller and gave it a run through that night. Problem was I was blowing breakers like crazy. The next day I did some research and figured out that  I needed 4 dedicated circuits (15 amps each) to run the lights. I called up an electrician and he told me it would cost $195 per circuit. WHAT??? I didn't want to pay $800 so the next thing I did was looking online for a How-To on installing circuit breakers... looks freakin easy. Then I looked up how much the parts would cost me. It was cheap. I went to Lowes that night and bought all of the stuff I needed... $60, this included a $13 tester to make sure I didn't touch a live wire and kill myself. I was pretty scared by the though of touching these wires that had a ton of electricity running through them.

Tonight I did the deed. When I took off the breaker box front panel it exposed all of the wiring and the first thing I noticed was the two HUGE wires feeding the breakers. I could hold my tester a couple inches a way and it would go crazy. It was intimidating. I shut off the main switch outside and it was safe to work on the breakers in the garage though. Don't worry I tested everything before I touched! The pictures I posted tell the story kinda. I think I did a good job with the wiring. The wall I didn't do so well with. I am going to have to find a way to fix it up a bit. Just look at the pictures.

Afterwards I tried testing my lights. I got 2/3 plugged in and then half of them went out. I must have blown a fuse on one of the light controllers. Each light controller can handle 15 amps per 8 channels = 30 amps. The problem I had tonight is easy to fix.  What I need to do is count the number of light strands on each channel and then distribute the power to each circuit appropriately. I need to cleanup the garage tomorrow and then I want to rearrange my extension cords so they all go into the garage instead of to the front porch. Lots of work still to do. I want to have it launched by Dec. 1st so next week I can tweak my show in time for the grand opening on Dec. 7th.

In the next few days I should have a picture of the house with all of the lights.

Oh ya and I got www.rushlights.com up.
